Again this year I've gone with a completely new macro rig. I'll be shooting with the Canon 40d camera and their MPE-65 macro lens. This is a very unique lens in that it can go from 1:1 all the way up to 5:1. In the previous years I've been maxing out at 2:1 so this will really open up some new things for me. (Unfortunately controlling the depth of field is going to be a real pain.)
On top of that I've purchased Canon's MT24-EX macro flash which gives you one flash on either side of the lens that you can adjust in just about every way possible and is giving me a much higher quality of light than my old setup so equipment wise I'll be in pretty good shape this season.
I'm taking pretty much all of July and the first 10 days in August off so as long as I can pull myself off the couch there should be bug pictures galore coming. I hope you enjoy them! (And I hope all this new equipment is worth it!)
Thanks for reading and checking out my page,
Kurt
